Working On the Nextt Batch of HandMade Fabric Book Covers

Just a heads up, I'll be sewing and using my embroidery machine until it melts down, during the next two weeks, making fabric book covers for the Potter Heads.

Hopefully, there will enough of them because I will be a vendor at the Plainfield HS Band Booster Fall Craft Extravaganza October 29th and October 30th, in Plainfield IL.

I had so many requests for these Harry Potter themed  fabric book covers and I told those who visited my space at the Romeoville Fall Colors Craft show, that I will have more for this show.

So, I'm putting the pedal to the metal and making it "Accio Sew er So!!!" er LOL.

Below are items that are being sewn.
(I am not affiliated with any Harry Potter corporation or company.  These are one of a kind, hand made items. )

I also make a cover that has wands on it with Harry, Ron and Hermione and words - the Wand Chooses the Wizard, but I failed to take a picture of it.

I have also designed an 'Always" cover and have a design for Quiddich patch and an Always bookmark.   But I don't know if I can do all this.  BECAUSE I have to sleep sometimes.  LOL.

DIY Fabric Book Covers Under Construction part 2

Just thought you would like to see the next batch of book covers "in the works" part 2.

To See Part 1 go here - DIY Fabric Book Covers Under Construction.

The picture shows cover pieces, inside front and back panels, and pockets that have been cut out, marked with sewing lines, and pinned together.

Here's a run down on what it takes for this 2nd phase of making  fabric book covers.

  1. Mark the pieces for a 1/4 inch seam. The seam marking is on the front and the back inside panels on the back of the fabric
  2. For the pockets that will be on the inside front panel, piece together inside out and iron a top 1/4 in seam.
  3. Cut a hair elastic for each cover.
  4. Pin front panel to cover fabric  on the right hand side.  The cover fabric is  face up and and the front panel is face down.
  5. Tape hair elastic to the left side of the cover fabric, 1/2 from the top.
  6. Pin the back panel to the left hand over the hair elastic on the fabric cover.
  7. Sew pinned panels. Double stitch over hair elastic.
  8. Fold fabric for pocket with designs to the inside. Fold down top edge 1/4 and iron.
  9.  Sew pocket along markings.
  10. Turn pocket inside out and press.
  11. Cut the extra length from the hair elastics .
  12.  Iron the sewn cover flat.
  13.  Cut ribbon that coordinates to your cover panel to length of 15-16 inches and set aside.

Are you still with me?  LOL, even I'm lost at this phase.  But I've made over 100 fabric book covers and can to all phases blindfolded,

DIY Fabric Book Covers Under Construction

Just thought you would like to see the next batch of book covers "in the works".

Working on : Pokemon, Dr. Who, Chicago Blackhawks, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

The picture shows cover pieces, inside front and back panels, and pockets that have been cut out.

Here's a run down on what it takes for this 1st phase of making  fabric book covers.
  1. Select the best image from your fabric and center it.  I have a temp plate created for both the spiral and the composition book sizes.  A crossbar marks the center of the temp plate, so I just draw around the temp plate once I have the best part of the design.
  2. Cut out the traced patterns.
  3. Trace and cut out the side panels.  I usually cut the front panel from a solid color and the back panel is from the cover fabric.  Again,  I have a temp plate for this.
  4. Trace and cut out an image from the cover fabric to make a pocket.  Again, I have a temp plate for this.

Cute Critter Keyboard Wrist Rests

I have another item checked off  "da list".

And these items were as fun as well as something that can be put to good use.

I completed sewing up some Computer Keyboard wrist rests.

So if you're a keying junkie, that is,  a old school person using a keyboard instead of a touch screen.  you just might like these.

And they might just be the key to help prevent some carpel tunnel problems.

Key down to see the critters.

My DIY Upcoming Craft Projects

Summertime is a time for most people to relax and enjoy outside activities.

Me?  How am I relaxing and enjoying the summer?

Well, the key word here is relaxing!!

Can you guess what I do to relax in the summertime?

CORRECT!

It IS crafting and making "da list" of things to craft for the Fall craft shows.

On "da list" are new things and old favorites.

So relax and scroll down to see "da list".

Yeah, yeah, I know it a busy schedule and most people would not call that summertime relaxation. But,  that is some people and they haven't commented on this blog for quite a while. LOL.

New Hand Crafted Key Fobs or Wristlets

Just having a blast making some "men" and "women" things for the next series of craft fairs.

What is different about my fobs, is that I sewed the edges of the ribbon down to the webbing.  This was done after I used the hot adhesive initially apply the ribbon.  I also sewed the ends of the fob together and used liquid stitch to seal the edges.  I think that this make a high quality item.

I am also waiting on bigger hardware for the 1 inch ribbon, so more to come later.

( I am NOT affiliated with any : Dr Who Enterprises, BBC, Chicago Blackhawks, NHL, Disney, or StarWars Companies.  These are handmade one of a kind items, using purchased ribbon with the designs on them.)

Police Call Box Bags

Hello everyone.  I am doing a post for Debbie, today.

Why?

Because she is off in a sewing frenzy working on some more cool stuff.

And the laptop seemed abandoned and needed a little love. along with some cat fur.

Debbie used a wonderful In the Hoop Machine Embroidery Design, which she purchased from  Disorderly Threads .  Check them out.

So without much ado, below is some purr, purr, purr fect  Dr Who inspired Police Call Box bags.  (note Debbie is NOT affiliated with the Dr Who enterprises, BBC, and  these below items are hand crafted one of a kind items) .

One thing about the bag, is that it has a design on the front AND the back.

Cool isn't it?

Debbie will probably be selling these at one of her upcoming craft shows, and on-line if and when she gets her act together and opens one.  LOL.  But please check out her Pinterest site here B-True Crafts My Hand Made Crafts .

Debbie's always complaining that she spends too much of her sewing time on Pinterest and other places.  I can hear her muttering about Wastebook er FaceBook, and getting lost in cyber space.

Me?

I love to travel  in Feline Space and a bag like this might just come in handy.

Ten Fabric Covers for Composition Notebooks

What time is it?
It's Springtime!!
And ,,,,
It's about time to post a few more of my fabric notebook covers.

So Springing right to it, see them below.  Pictures are mostly of the front and inside panel.

 1.   I found some fabric with pictures of Audrey Hepburn from "My Fair Lady" .  I centered a panel on a dotted fabric and put rose ribbon trim on the hat.
This size is for a spiral notebook.

2. This fabric was so cool with stitching and embroidering. I didn't sew a pocket for the front but used an embroidered design from the fabric instead.

3. Striking a note with the below.
